GULF VIEW AND GREAT BEACH ACCESS make this home one to consider for your vacations or retirement. As you may know, Upper Captiva Island is accessed only by boat, or by small plane into a private airstrip. The island is approximately 4 miles long and a ½ mile wide at its widest. A little more than one-half of the island is owned by the state of Florida and is managed as a preserve. There are about 400 homes on the island and of those, approximately 75% are available for rent. Four small restaurants, a general store and two beach boutiques comprise the only stores on the island. There are about 80 full-time residents. Island transportation is by electric golf carts which helps to keep the island a peaceful and relaxing get-a-way.
